With the variety of industries and fields you can enter as a designer, the idea of knowing where your passions truly lie and how you want to apply your talents can seem daunting. From poster design to user experience design, there is a wide range of paths you can go down. Today, I want to present you with ways to find your passions and get on track with the career you want!
KNOWING YOUR PASSIONS
Knowing yourself is one of the hardest parts, but looking back at your work and figuring out what you enjoy working on the most or what brings you the most joy is one of the key steps. That joy and enthusiasm towards your projects will give you motivation to strengthen your skills and enjoy the work that you do every day. Well, only picking specific types of projects may be for some people, but knowing the fact that you like to work on various types of projects is also a beneficial thing. Whether you know you like to have your hands and every single part of a brand or you like to shake things up often, being a one-stop shop for everything creative can also be beneficial to many employers.

Beyond just knowing what sector of design you prefer working in, knowing where your interests lie and what industry you want to work in, whether that be healthcare, beauty, or politics, can also be beneficial. Knowing where your interests lie can help you find particular employers that cater to your skills and passions. On the other hand, working with an agency and being able to work on various sectors of businesses at a rapid rate can allow you to explore many different passions that you have and allow you to become multifaceted.
RESEARCH
Well, it may be true that your passion lies within specific sectors, looking within the job market, and seeing where employees are truly needed may help you learn about niches that you didn't know you were interested in and help you get him employed at new and exciting jobs. When researching, you may find out about new opportunities that you never knew existed, that fit into your lifestyle and hobbies perfectly. On the other hand, if you don't find something that immediately clicks with you, experiment; you may learn more about yourself from jobs that you weren't entirely sure of, and you may develop new skills that you want to explore further.
EXPERIENCE
If you have the opportunity to explore different internships or job opportunities within the industry, you may be able to learn more about yourself and your interests. For me personally, I've had the incredible opportunity to have multiple internships and jobs within the design industry. These experiences have been vital to me, learning more about the industry and my preferences within it. For me I learned that I enjoy delving into multiple projects at once and being multifaceted, as it allows me to express my ideas more creatively and to delve deeper into bringing a brand’s vision to life.
